Agriculture
ACAD in collaboration with FAO has been managing to facilitate the distribution of agriculture inputs such as seeds and tools since 2001, which resulted in the area, producing surplus in grain. And Vegetables supported by FAO and UNDP has been incorporated into agriculture production to improve diet. Grinding mills Supported by UNICEF to relieve women from pounding burden of preparing food for the family have been erected and operational.
The total cost expended by ACAD for the implementation of Food Security and Livelihoods in Abyei County is US$168,021.in 2012 ACAD distributed 140 MT of Seeds mainly Cow Peas, Short varieties of Sorghum and Maize plus 28000 Pieces of malodas and2000 Pieces of Panga to both IDPS and returnees .in the same year 10 grinding mils, Fishery hooks, Water cane and fishery Twins were distributed to IDPs mainly South of Kiir River as well as some returnees North of Kiir River.
Relief Food
General Food distribution and Food for recovery/Assets was a partnership with WFP had signed Field Level agreement (FLA) in March 2011, which make ACAD the only WFP implementer for General Food Distribution and Food for assets in the Area. Before Abyei Crisis in May 2011, ACAD managed to distributed and until now, ACAD is doing General Food distribution (GFD) covering Abyei Area Administration.
Vegetable Gardens
Ministry of Agriculture was supported with 12 water irrigation pumps and Vegetables seeds for community Vegetables garden by Canadian Embassy through ACAD in 2009-2010.
