Dongbek Anyiel Kuol, MPP
ACAD Executive Director
Has experience of 19 years in working with Abyei Community Action for Development ACAD and he is Holding master’s Degree in Public policy from University of Juba and Bachelor Degree in Science(B-SC Honors) in Engineering Technology specialize in Textile Technology From University of Gezira. Dongbek had started his work early in his field of textile engineering as shift engineer in Blue Nile Textile Factory in Wad medani in Central Sudan immediately after his graduation in 1998 up to 2001 after that, he joints ACAD as volunteer in March 2003 as translator, water team leader in 20003 and field Coordinator in November 2003.Dongbek was selected by ACAD board of Trustees to be ACAD Executive Director in June 2006 up to now.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with Board of Trustees to identify, create and implement strategic plans to actualize business objective , identify , recruit , train and develop talent team of employee who can lead critical department and managed strategic business functions. Monitor organization operations and ensure employees and business practices and comply regulatory and legal requirement. MONITORING AND EVALUATION OFFICER
Principled humanitarian and development professional with over five (5) years of Non-Governmental Organization experience, including high-level programme representation and delegation, programme planning, Reporting, staff management, working with local partners and donors, resource mobilization and operations. Chol spent years leading Monitoring and Evaluation in a fragile and conflict affected setting for the FSL programmes. Chol is passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, he supports local capacity development, aid transparency and Accountability. Chol received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics (First Class- CGPA of 4.52 out of 5.0) from college of Economics and Management Sciences, Department of Economics and applied Statistics, Kampala International University(KIU), Kampala, Uganda, (2016/2017).
Lual Kuol Lual Deng
ACAD Field Coordinator
Working with Abyei Community Action for Development ACAD for 17 years. Graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Sudan University of Science & Technology, began working with ACAD as a human rights and child protection officer from January 1st 2005 to June 30th 2005 and promoted to Livelihoods coordinator July 1st 2005 to May 31st 2006 and then became the field coordinator from June 2006 until now. Key Duties and Responsibilities To supervise, implement and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the organization in the field, Summarize, evaluate and update on a regular basis the programs (evaluation of work carried out by implementing staff and other partners) in accordance with the established planning schedules. Provides leadership and crucial support for project implementation, presents narratives and financial reports to the Executive Director and finance, designs and implements strategies and working policies. Coordinates the field works with all stakeholders, In charge of all procurements, travels, transport and deliveries of goods and materials. Ensures quality products and equipment’s are procured and safely stored. To prepare bookings and procurement reports to finance and other relevant departments within the organization. Carries out planning’s and drafting reports and facilitate the work team in field level. Represents ACAD in functions and meeting with partners and local authorities and supervises current and new programs
Luka Biong Deng Kuol, PhD,
ACAD Board of Trustee
Is an adjunct distinguished professor at the Africa Center for Strategic Studies, National Defense University in Washington. His areas of expertise include Development – Security – Governance Nexus, Public Policy Design, Implementation and Evaluation, National Security Strategy Development and Implementation in Africa, Management of Security Resources in Africa, Post-Conflict Transitions, Peacebuilding and Statebuilding, Livelihoods, Vulnerability, Food Security and Humanitarian – Development Nexus. Dr. Kuol is also a Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Abyei Action for Community Development (ACAD), a Global Fellow at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), a Fellow at the Rift Valley Institute, and an Associate Professor of Economics (on leave) at the University of Juba in South Sudan. He is a member of the United Nations Security Sector Advisory Council, a member of the African Security Sector Network and one of the founding members of South Sudan Studies Association. He also sits on the editorial board of the renowned Disasters Journal. He was the Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs at the Africa Center for Strategic Studies. In addition, he was the faculty lead of three academic programs: National Security Strategy Development and Implementation in Africa, Managing Security Resources in Africa, and Emerging Security Sector Leaders in Africa. Prior to joining the Africa Center, Dr. Kuol served as the director of the Institute of Peace, Development and Security Studies at the University of Juba, South Sudan. He was also a member of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Economics and Rural Development at the University of Gezira in Sudan. He was a resident fellow at Harvard Kennedy School and a visiting fellow at the Institute of Development Studies at University of Sussex in the United Kingdom. He served as a Minister of Presidential Affairs for the Government of Southern Sudan and as a National Minister of Cabinet Affairs for the Republic of Sudan. He has also worked as a senior economist for the World Bank in Sudan. He was the founder of the New Sudan Center for Statistics and Evaluation that became the current South Sudan Bureau of Statistics. He has published scholarly articles in a wide array of prestigious international journals and contributed with many peer-reviewed chapters in various books and peer reviewer for more than fifteen renowned peer-reviewed journals. He is the lead author of the National Security Strategy Development in Africa: Toolkit for Drafting and Consultation published by the Africa Center for Strategic Studies. He is a co-editor of a book entitled “The Struggle for South Sudan: Challenges of Security and State Formation”, co-editor of a book entitled “Abyei: Between Two Sudans” and author of two books entitled “Confronting Civil War: Vulnerability and Resilience in South Sudan and Sudan” and “Why Does Famine Persist in Africa?”. He received his Bachelor of Science from the Faculty of Economics and Social Studies at the University of Khartoum, Sudan, master’s degree in economics and Master of Business Administration from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, and a Ph.D. from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.
